Cashew Market Report (July 27 – August 3, 2026)

The global cashew market continues to enter a transition phase between the end of the West African crop and the start of the East African season. High-quality RCN supply is increasingly scarce, supporting high raw cashew prices, while global kernel demand remains moderate.

  1. OVERVIEW OF THE VIETNAMESE AND INTERNATIONAL MARKETS

General Trends

The international cashew market is in a transitional period, with trading activity slowing down as the West African season has concluded and final shipments are underway. Meanwhile, the East African season has not yet started.

Global demand for cashew kernels remains moderate. Western importers are primarily focusing on processing existing contracts and shipments in transit rather than signing new ones. This has led some Vietnamese processors to slightly lower their offering prices to stimulate transactions.

Raw cashew prices remain stable due to the increasingly limited supply of high-quality nuts in West Africa.

PRODUCT CATEGORY FOB Price (USD/LB)
WW240 3,45-3,60
WW320 3,10-3,30

All grades recorded stable price trends during the week.

Supply and Demand Trends

  •  Global kernel demand has not shown a breakthrough.
  •  The market is more balanced thanks to lower West African production compared to 2025 and slightly reduced consumption demand.
  1. RAW CASHEW NUT (RCN) MARKET

West Africa Enters End-of-Season

In most West African countries such as Burkina Faso, Togo, Guinea, and Côte d’Ivoire, procurement activities have nearly concluded. The market is currently trading remaining inventories, while new supply is very limited.

In Togo, only a small amount of inventory remains, with raw material prices fluctuating between 1,575 – 1,600 USD/Ton for an outturn of 47-48 lbs. Prices decreased slightly compared to the previous month due to declining inventory quality.

In Burkina Faso, local processors’ demand remains favorable while supply is increasingly scarce, keeping prices stable at high levels.

In Guinea-Bissau, approximately 143,000 tons out of the 188,000 tons licensed for export have been shipped. Prices at warehouses in Bissau hovered around 1,675 – 1,725 USD/Ton for an outturn of 51-52 lbs in July.

  1. VIETNAM’S CASHEW IMPORT AND EXPORT

Cashew Kernel Exports

In the first 6 months of 2026, Vietnam exported approximately 341 thousand tons of cashew kernels, down about 1% compared to the same period in 2025.

China continued to be Vietnam’s largest cashew export market for the second consecutive year, surpassing the United States. Markets like Canada and Thailand continued to record positive growth.

Raw Cashew Imports

Vietnam’s raw cashew imports in the first 6 months of 2026 continued to increase by over 100,000 tons compared to the same period in 2025.

Cambodia maintained its position as the largest supplier of raw cashews to Vietnam, exporting over 1 million tons to Vietnam in the first half of the year, up 15% year-on-year and accounting for nearly 60% of total imports.

Exports from Côte d’Ivoire decreased sharply due to a priority on domestic processing and a later-than-usual export opening.

  1. INTERNATIONAL KERNEL PRICES

International Price Trends

Kernel prices have generally remained stable for many consecutive weeks. WW320 FOB Vietnam prices hovered around the 3.10-3.30 USD/lb range.

While demand has not surged, RCN prices continue to be supported by the growing scarcity of high-quality supply in West Africa.

  1. SHORT-TERM OUTLOOK

The global cashew market is moving towards a more balanced state. Consumption demand has decreased slightly due to inflation impacts and economic uncertainties linked to Middle Eastern conflicts; however, West African harvest output in 2026 is also lower than the previous year.

The ongoing scarcity of high-quality raw cashew supply in West Africa, combined with the delayed start of the East African season, helps maintain RCN price levels at a high point.

In the short term, kernel prices are forecast to continue fluctuating within a narrow band. The market is assessed to have the potential to maintain its current equilibrium in the coming months, barring any abnormal factors from supply-demand or global logistics.
