1. OVERVIEW OF THE VIETNAMESE AND INTERNATIONAL MARKETS

General Trends

Vietnam: The cashew kernel market continues to strengthen, with buyers showing interest in delivery contracts through Q1/2027. Demand is concentrated on standard whole kernels, particularly WW320 and WW240, to meet demand at the end of 2026 and the beginning of 2027.

Reported FOB offer prices are as follows:

• W180: 4.50–4.60 USD/lb
• W210: 4.10–4.40 USD/lb
• W240: 3.50–3.60 USD/lb
• W320: 3.10–3.35 USD/lb
• SW/LBW320: 2.85–3.00 USD/lb
• WS: 2.65–2.75 USD/lb
• LP: 2.00–2.20 USD/lb
• SP: 1.40–1.60 USD/lb

Supply and Demand Trends

• Buyers remain cautious when offered higher prices, although buying inquiries are increasing.
• Importers in North America, Europe and East Asia, particularly China, typically increase purchases in late September/early October to prepare inventory for the year-end and early-Q1 consumption cycle.
• Demand is heavily concentrated on WW320 and WW240, in line with the Christmas, New Year and Lunar New Year consumption seasons.

2. RAW CASHEW NUT (RCN) MARKET

RCN Prices Remain Firm

RCN trading activity in Vietnam remains slow, with buyers maintaining a cautious stance. Nevertheless, a small number of transactions were recorded. The report notes transactions around IVC 42/190/1,400 and IVC 44/190/1,510.

Regarding new supply, Tanzania is preparing to enter auction sessions from 12 October, with expected output of more than 500,000 tonnes; dry conditions in the south are favorable for harvesting and drying. Mozambique is also preparing to establish a reference RCN price for the 2026/27 crop.

4. SHORT-TERM OUTLOOK

• Vietnamese cashew kernels: the trend remains firm with a slight increase, as buyers step up sourcing for demand through Q1/2027; the focus remains on WW320 and WW240. However, buyers are still reluctant to accept higher prices.
• International demand: entering the purchasing period for the year-end and New Year consumption seasons in North America, Europe and East Asia, thereby supporting demand for standard whole kernels.
• RCN: Tanzania is preparing to bring new-crop supply to the market through auction sessions starting 12 October; Mozambique is preparing to establish a reference price for the 2026/27 crop.
