CASHEW NUT MARKET – WEEK 34
*English Version
CASHEW MARKET WEEK 34 (17/08 – 22/08/2026)
Market sentiment remained cautious as demand in the US and EU has not clearly recovered after the summer holiday. Meanwhile, raw cashew supply from West Africa is gradually tightening.
1. OVERVIEW OF THE VIETNAMESE AND INTERNATIONAL MARKET
General trend
The global cashew kernel market continued to weaken during the past week. In Vietnam, W320 transactions were recorded at around USD 3.05–3.08/lb in small volumes. Larger grades such as W180 and W210 remained stable due to limited supply.
In the EU, imports of cashew kernels from Africa continued to increase strongly, but the overall import pace showed signs of slowing due to high inventories and rising import prices.
Vietnam Cashew Kernel Trading Prices (FOB)
| Grade | FOB Price (USD/lb) |
| W180 | 4.30 – 4.60 |
| W210 | 3.85 – 4.30 |
| W240 | 3.50 – 3.60 |
| W320 | 3.05 – 3.15 |
| WS | 2.60 – 2.75 |
| LP | 1.95 – 2.20 |
Supply and demand trends
- Demand for medium-sized kernels such as W240 and W320 remained weak. Buyers requested an additional discount of 5–10 cents/lb, but sellers did not accept because the price was not balanced against current raw cashew prices.
- Demand for WS and LP remained low.
- Larger grades such as W180 and W210 remained stable due to limited supply.
- The market may improve when Western customers return after the summer holiday.
2. RAW CASHEW NUT (RCN) MARKET
RCN prices edged lower, but trading remained limited
The raw cashew market declined slightly from the previous week. Some small transactions were recorded for Cote d’Ivoire origin at 44/170 outturn at around USD 1,430/ton CNF Ho Chi Minh City. However, trading volume remained low.
Reference RCN Prices – CNF Vietnam
| Origin | Outturn | CNF Price (USD/ton) |
| Ghana | 46/190 | 1,520 |
| Cote d’Ivoire | 43/180 | 1,430 |
| Cote d’Ivoire | 43/170 | 1,430 |
| Ogbomosho (Nigeria) | 45/185 | 1,465 |
| Kogi (Nigeria) | 47/185 | 1,485 |
| Cote d’Ivoire | 48/180 | 1,580 |
Supply from Cote d’Ivoire remained relatively large. During April–July 2026, the country exported 444,683 tons of RCN, of which 367,983 tons went to Vietnam and 76,700 tons to India.
Tanzania is entering an important flowering and fruit-setting period. Current dry weather conditions are favorable, but weather conditions over the next few weeks will have a significant impact on the new crop yield.
3. VIETNAM CASHEW IMPORTS AND EXPORTS
Cashew kernel exports
In the first half of August 2026, Vietnam exported 30,308 tons of cashew kernels, down 8.34% year-on-year. Export value reached USD 217.4 million, down 3.85%.
Cumulatively from the beginning of the year to mid-August 2026, exports reached 442,341 tons, slightly lower than the same period in 2025.
Raw cashew imports
In the first half of August 2026, Vietnam imported 94,652 tons of raw cashews worth USD 148.8 million, down 33% in volume from 141,276 tons in the same period last year.
From the beginning of the year to mid-August, imports totaled more than 2.06 million tons, up 7.43% year-on-year from 2.03 million tons.
4. SHORT-TERM OUTLOOK
The global cashew market remains in a low-liquidity state as buyers in the US and Europe have not fully returned to the market after the summer holiday.
Raw cashew supply from Cote d’Ivoire and West Africa is gradually tightening after the peak harvest period, while processors have actively purchased large volumes of raw material. This will continue to support raw cashew prices and limit the potential for a sharp decline in kernel prices.
Market activity is expected to improve from September as demand from major consuming markets recovers.
